1940s Green Suede Casual Shoes by Harrods for Duchess of Gloucester
Beautiful sage green suede slip on shoes with a thick crepe rubber sole and big tab interlaced with green and tan leather. Also piped in tan with tan and green centre seam over the vamp. Elastic under the tab to aid fit. Leather upper, leather and textile lining, rubber soles. Wooden shoe trees with a brass plate that reads HRH The Duchess of Gloucester.
This style was very popular 1939-41 until the war stopped rubber imports.
Bought at a jumble sale in a village near Sandringham in the 1980s.
Very good condition with light general wear on the toes.
